Itinerary
This full-day tour starts at Santa Ana Square with its high elevation that allows you breathtaking views of Cusco. It’s the perfect spot to begin a historical journey through the city.
Stroll over to the Street of Conquest for a walk back in time to when the Spanish conquistadors first moved into Cusco in 1535. This is a great place to learn about the Inca Empire, Tawantinsuyu.
Next, head on to Sacsayhuaman, the largest archeology site in South America with its magnificent Inca architecture, terraces, and huacas (religious sites). Then take a break at a local store where you can browse or shop products made from the finest Alpaca fiber while sipping a cup of Muña tea.
Resume your walk and arrive at Villa San Blas, the artistic neighborhood that is home to local artists. It boasts a vibrant atmosphere, especially at night when bars come to life with live music.
Continue walking to Hatun Rumiyoc or “The Place of Big Stones” that showcases the Incas' impressive engineering skills through the 12-angled stone, a feat considering the hardness of the green diorite used.
Stroll through Plaza Nazarenas, Cusco's most high-end area, passing by historical landmarks like San Francisco de Borja, South America's first school, and the Inca Museum on your way to the main square.
Finally, Plaza de Armas, the vibrant main square of Cusco. This is the last leg of the city tour and boasts historical building standing next to each other including five significant churches. It is also the melting pot of locals and tourists.
